How it works
How does a board game cafe work?
The Treehouse is Sheffield's first board game cafe, but what does this mean in practice?
- An extensive library of games. We have a library of over 300 board games with new titles arriving each month (see 'games' section for the most recent list of what we have).
- Friendly games gurus to help you find the right game for your group and get to grips with the rules.
- A small cover charge per session. This is to help us maintain the games library and pay our gurus, and ensures we maintain our specialism as a board games cafe (see below for more details).
- Food and drink served direct to your table, so you don't have to miss your turn to get a new drink (see 'food & drink' section for a full menu).
We serve alcohol (including a range of craft beer on draught), and are open into the evening until 11pm (10pm on Sundays).
How does the cover charge work?
When you come to the Treehouse to play games, there is a standard cover charge of £5 per adult/ £2.50 per child (under 12 years), providing four hours of access to the games library so you can play whatever you fancy.
At the weekends and in the evenings after 7pm, the cover charge applies to everyone. This is to ensure the Treehouse remains a specialist venue so we can create the best possible playing environment for our customers.
During the week before 7pm, you can use the Treehouse as a normal cafe, enjoying our great selection of food and drink. However, if you wish to play games the cover charge will still apply, unless you are a student or a pensioner, in which case it's free up to 7pm.
We offer a membership scheme for those of you who plan to visit us regularly. This is £25 per year, giving you your first session for free and subsequent sessions for £2.50.
Who is the Treehouse for?
The Treehouse is for everyone.
We are a family-friendly venue, with all ages welcome during the day (under 12s should be accompanied by an adult). In the evening, we can accommodate unaccompanied under 18s until 7pm and accompanied under 18s until 9pm, based on the conditions of our alcohol licence.
The premises are fully wheelchair accessible and we are a dog-friendly venue.
